Caswell Olive Drab Green Chromate - makes 2 Gal

Caswell Olive Drab Chromate will impart an heavy, non-iridescent olive drab green coating over zinc or cadmium deposits. The finish also serves as an excellent base for paint.   MIXING:   DO NOT USE OLIVE DRAB CHROMATE AT FULL STRENGTH. DO NOT PRE-MIX PART I AND PART II. A VIOLENT REACTION MAY OCCUR.   In a plastic tank (HDPE preferred) add 2 US Gallons of distilled water. Add 8 fl oz Olive Drab Part I and mix with a plastic mixer Add 8 fl oz Olive Drab Part II and mix with a plastic mixer   Solution is now ready for use. Use at 70-90 deg F. If heating use Stainless Steel heaters (No Titanium) Air agitation recommended but not required.   OPERATION:   Zinc or cadmium plate the part Rinse with distilled water Dip in a 5% solution of muriatic or hydrochloric acid for 5 secs (not required but recommended) Rinse with distilled water Dip in Olive Drab Chromate for 15-60 seconds Rinse with distilled water Dry with warm air not exceeding 160 deg F.   TROUBLESHOOTING:     Problem  Cause  Solution Dull streaks/bare spots Poor rinsing after plating or chromating   Chromate is too strong Increase rinsing.
