I needed an umbrella base for a table because the necks of traditional bases were too tall to work with my table. This fits nicely, and is weighted with water. To secure the pole in the base, turn the neck to snug it up. THIS IS NOT INTENTED AS A STAND-ALONE BASE AND WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT A TABLE (HOLE) TO HELP HOLD IT UPRIGHT.

If you don't like it, you're doing it wrong!

Listen! They should have put directions with this. Your umbrella will set down in there! Once you take the center support out of the bottom storage and put it in the hole and twist to lock it into the grooves... heres the important part... the top of that center part screws off! Take the top off the center part and slide onto your umbrella post with the treads faceing down. Now stick your post into the center of the base and it will slide down into the support and you can slide that top peice that you unscrewed back down and screw it back on. Tada! It has little flex pieces that tighten around the post as you're screwing it back on and thats what holds firm and steady! You're welcome.

It’s about the best one I ever found. I have a plastic base and a metal base. The plastic base is a lot better. It doesn’t leave rust on my composite deck or concrete. Just fill it with sand and it’s heavier than any metal base.
