No sunflower seeds!! Good for smaller birds.

My little cockatiel won't eat sunflower seeds. Which is good because they have the highest fat content of all the seeds in bird seed mixes…which is not healthy for pet birds. And my little tiel loves those tiny white safflower seeds the most! So I get this specific mix and custom mix her seeds. Her primary food source is not seeds, so I don't feel bad at all about giving her seeds. They supplement her diet, they are not her whole diet. An all seed diet is really really bad for pet birds. But, I've been using this specific brand/mix for her seed mixture for years and it has her faves together in one place. This is a good mix for smaller birds that don't like sunflower seeds. And also for bird parents that don't want to feed them sunflower seeds because they are so unhealthy. I recommend this product for smaller birds that have seeds in their diet, and I'll purchase it again for mine.

My cockatiel is pretty picky about eating seeds, though he seems to enjoy a strange variety of people food! For some reason he can't stand sunflower seeds and most every brand we've tried seems to contain more than half the bag of sunflower seeds so most of it goes to waste. Our local pet store carries the Volkman mix with NO sunflower seeds but it's super expensive and we were getting it at a decent price from Chewys for awhile, but they suddenly stopped carrying the Cockatiel mix without explanation. It's odd because they do still have the mixes for the larger parrots! Anyway, we had to resort to buying other brands and basically wasting money when he only eats some of the seeds so I'm so pleased we found that we can get his favorite Volkman Cockatiel mix with NO sunflower seeds shipped through Walmart! I'm happy to get the seed mix he actually LIKES so there's no more waste!
