I LOVE GRITS! BUT - I like them cooked beyond the recommended time. An extra minute or so makes these instant grits ever so more soft, less gritty! I even add wee bits of cheddar cheese to the last minute of microwave cooking. I'm a lover of the traditional cheese grits - ordering this famous dish when at Mooresville, North Carolina restaurants, after moving here from "up North" Give this a try! Quaker Instant Grits Original, 0.98 oz 22 Count Between Quaker Oatmeal and these Quaker Grits, I do eat breakfast everyday. The grits seem to have a lot of dark grains that look like bugs, but they're not. I still spoon them out. I make cheese grits with them and they are delicious. I like them in Autumn season with sausage cooked in air fryer and scrambled eggs. Both the grits and oatmeal have increased in price in an outrageous kind of way. I know because I eat them everyday and have for many years. The original that you cook on the stove is better, but I'm all about convenience anymore.

For the grits lover who wants it at breakfast and dinner. For a creamier result, use milk. Grits compliment pan seared fish or many variations of a cooked egg. Hate eggs?, serve them with shredded cheese. My favorite is to add some salsa onto my cheese grits n eggs with crumbled bacon on top...
