Does what it's supposed to, holds mail

Easy to assemble with just a screwdriver. I put 60 lbs of sand in to weight it down which was plenty but it could easily hold another 40 lbs if needed. The quality is good. My only gripe would be the price as it is rather high for a mass produced injection molded product but what isn't over priced these days.

Set up to “fail”

Living near Lake Superior creates lots of snow (almost 200” annually) and the snow plows take their toll on mailboxes. Just look at all of these twisted mailboxes along US2 in the spring. I'm trying a different theory, similar to a bowling pin. Summer is no problem, that 120 lbs of sand will keep it in place. I expect winter snowplow, snow wall hitting the box should knock it over. Hopefully standing it back up is all it takes to be back in service. We will see in November!

So far we really like the mailbox. The only problem I'm having is filling the base and post with sand. The sand is bought was wet and it's impossible to pour wet sand in those small holes. The base seems pretty sturdy but the post is very wobbly. I'm still trying to get more sand in post and maybe that will help.
