I have a large collection of hand made roller ball pens. The craftsman always includes a fine point or medium point ink cartridge! They skip from day one. The ink is not the best, doesn't dry quick enough! So when I get these beautiful custom pens I immediately take that crap out an insert my 1.0 Bold / Blue Pentel cartridges ! I trash the ones that come In my pens… I'm picky about the ink skipping and not deep dark blue/black … Pentel has been my go to cartridge for 20 plus years. I do not want any thing other than Pentel

I have a "heavy hand" and fairly large writing, so I like a gel pen with a bold point and smooth writing ink. I have tried other brands and while they work well, I like the Energel 1.0 bold point refill best. It is very smooth, bold, long lasting, and it does not smear. If you want your signature to stand out, I recommend the Pentel Energel.
