Easy to use, accurate and portable

I have used an AcuRite just like this for 20 years before it quit. I just bought 2 more, one for home and one for cabin. The one at home is in a year round shady and sheltered spot but not protected from rain. Readings are accurate.

good basic outdoor thermometer

This is a good basic outdoor thermometer. Outdoor temperature is accurate if you put the sensor at a right place. However, it is very tricky to find a place to place the sensor. I first put it under the roof but roof temperature is higher in the middle of day and affect the sensor a lot. Later I tried several places and eventually put it into a shade beside fence. It looks good now, almost identical to the number from the weather channel.
