2023 American Silver Eagle MS-69 NGC – Early Release The initial Silver Eagle design, unveiled in 1986, was not the first time it was used in circulation. Weinman's Walking Liberty design was introduced during a period of time in which American coinage charm was missing. The design was a quick hit with the community as a reminder of American attitudes and patriotism. The American Eagle coin's obverse design is Adolph A. Weinman's full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, wrapped up in folds of the flag, with her right hand stretched out and branches of laurel and oak in her left.
In 2021, a new reverse design was released - bringing attention to the series due to it being the very first redesign in the series ever. U.S. Mint AIP Designer Emily Damstra developed the new design for the 35th anniversary year, which was then sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso.
