I bought this Reel to use with a medium weight Rod that I had for the wife to use. I took it out of the package and attached it to the Rod. I popped the trigger and cranked it in a few times and called it good. Later, we're in the Boat and naturally she snags my Open-Face Ultralight to use for bait-casting (?) so I pulled out that Zebco 11 Rod & Reel that I had set up for her and I tied on a 3 ounce plug. I thought that there is no way that this Reel is going to be able to toss this lite lure 50 feet to the bank but I figured I'd give it a go. I whip the Rod back over my head and flip it towards the bank and zip, the lure sailed with little effort right where I had aimed. I was very impressed! As I worked the lure back to the boat, I noticed how smooth the Reel worked in my hand. On my 4th cast, I hooked an 8" LM Bass and the Reel performed wonderfully. I made 18 more casts and I caught 3 more Bass without any issues with this setup. I am in love with this Reel! I will be purchasing a few more. Zebco outdid themselves with this one.
