Great rod for the money

I started out as a bass fisherman using Lightning Rods. I have been a full time guide on Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend for the last 20 years. My sponsors supply any Rod I want but I went back to lightning Rods for my clients as they hold up. The guides and rod tips are basically indestructible. Many guides and Rod tips on most rods will not stand up with clients stepping on them. A client will get a fish hooked and forget about the rods on the boat deck. For the money you cannot beat a Berkley Lightning Rod. That’s why this rod it the best selling rod in the country.

The 6-6 medium-light two-piece spinning rod has been a go-to for a dozen years. It has participated in catching shell crackers and specks too numerous to count. It's mated to a Cabela's Prestige PT1500, spooled with 6-lb Stren mono; (6-lb, to accommodate the occasional channel cat, bass, 'snook', etc.). Just purchased two more (a 6 and 6-6) for the grandsons.

I use this rod for my guide business targeting striped bass. I run approximately 250 trips per year and tried several rods until I found this rod.
