Painting Conditions: Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area such as an open garage. Use when temperature is between 50°F(10°C) and 90°F(32°C) and humidity is below 65% to ensure proper drying. Avoid spraying in very windy, dusty conditions. Cover surrounding area to protect from spray mist.Preparation: Remove loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. For superior adhesion, lightly sand glossy or porous surfaces. Remove any wax by lightly wiping the surface with mineral spirits. Let dry. Clean with soap and water, rinse, and let dry. Warning! if you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. Lead is toxic. Contact the National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.Priming: Priming is not required for most surfaces. For superior coverage, a Rust-Oleum® primer can be used for surfaces such as bare wood and treated wood.Painting: Shake can vigorously for one minute before after mixing ball begins to rattle. Shake often during use. If mixing ball fails to rattle do not strike can. Contact Rust-Oleum®. Hold can upright 10?12" from surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the surface. Keep the can in motion while spraying. Apply 2 or more light coats a few minutes apart. Dry & Recoat Times: Based on 70°F-50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. May recoat within 1 hour or after 48 hours. Dries to the touch in 20 minutes and to handle in 1 hour. Fully dry in 24 hours. Note: on plastic maximum paint adhesion and durability is achieved in 5?7 days. Chalked protective coat can be applied for added protection. Apply according to instructions on can.Clean-up: Wipe off tip before storing. Clean up wet paint with xylol or mineral spirits. Throw away empty can in trash pickup. Do not burn or place in home trash compactor.Clogging: If valve clogs, twist and pull off spray tip and rinse it in a solvent such as mineral spirits. Do not stick pin or other object into the stem.Distressing: This paint can be distressed if desired. To distress, lightly sand the surface with a fine-medium sand paper or sanding sponge. The more the piece is distressed the more the original surface will show through. Wait 2 hours before sanding or distressing.
