I believe this mattress would do decent at self inflating, however I am impatient and manually blew it up. I find the combination of memory foam plus air to be plenty comfortable; I had no issues sleeping on my back and/ or side. Definitely worth the money for sleeping in comfort while camping.

I was blown away at how easy this was to inflate with the self inflating option and use. It did exactly what the directions said. Self inflated and very very thick and comfortable. Soft to the touch and shapes to your body upon laying. Like sleeping in a cloud!

Best Nights Sleep in a Very Long Time

Used this on a camping trip to put in a cot. He has a bad shoulder and normally sleeps on his side, aggravating the shoulder. This pad was so comfortable that he didn't roll and woke up without being sore. He said that he hadn't slept that well in months.
