Playlist: The Very Best Of Teena Marie

Covering Lady T's five-album run for Epic -- 1983's Robbery through 1990's Ivory -- Playlist: The Very Best of Teena Marie contains only six of the 14 charting R&B singles from it. Several of those missing cuts, such as "Fix It," "Midnight Magnet," "Lips to Find You," "Work It," and "Here's Looking at You," were not lower rung, either, peaking in the Top 40. While the compilation demonstrates the depth of Marie's albums, including fan favorites like "Casanova Brown" and "My Dear Mr. Gaye," too many highlights are missing to make for an ideal summary of Marie's post-Gordy, pre-independent years.
