Audubon 7454 11" X 7" Dark Green Steel Seeds 'N More Bird Feeder

This feeder makes a great addition to the yard and attracts a wide variety of small birds: Cardinals, Chickadees, Titmice, Sparrows, Finches, Bluebirds, Downy Woodpeckers etc! Larger birds (Brown Thrashers, Doves, Towhees, etc) tend to eat the dropped seeds on the ground below this feeder! I pole mounted my feeder and placed it in view of a large window. I stand and watch the show completely mesmerized! With the addition of a squirrel baffle I have never had a squirrel get at the seed in this feeder! The narrow feeding bar does not permit larger birds landing on this feeder; Cardinals even struggle but can manage it by turning sideways when eating. This feeder is easy to fill! Simply press the release catch on the underside of the roof then lift up the front edge of the roof and tilt the roof back on its hinge! Pour in the seed from the top. This feeder holds quite a lot of seed. The design of this feeder helps to keep seed fresh and dry from rainwater. The overhang of the roof and the narrow feed ports does a great job of keeping the inside of the feeder and its seed dry. Even though I fill the hopper with shelled seed, the hulls never accumulate on this feeder since there is no floor! This is a huge plus! The maintenance and cleaning of this feeder is greatly minimized! The birds can sit and dine with no mess since the hulls merely fall away to the ground! The suet holders are more like suet 'cages'. I am not a fan of this aspect of this feeder's overall design. I struggle with opening and closing of these cages. The door notches closed but can easily pop open due to the weight of a large bird, ie Brown Thrashers. Therefore additional wiring is required to firmly close the cages. This is a Super maintenance *pain in the rear!* I would have much prefered to have the suet holders be open at the top, like other feeders, so that the suet cakes can simply be dropped into place from the top. Also the suet cages are too deep! I can stack two cakes inside one cage. After the first cake is eaten, the birds with short beaks cannot reach the second cake because it is located so far back from the front of the cage. Again if the cage was open at the top like other feeders, the birds could access the suet from the top. This feeder will last a lifetime with its metal construction! Being easy to use and having relatively low maintenance, this feeder is the best addition to my yard of all my feeders! I highly recommend this feeder!

This arrived via FedEx dented. I sent an email to the company that shipped it and no one has ever contacted me. This item was shipped by the manufacturer, not Walmart, so I wanted to see about a replacement.
