Warranty not honored.

This vapor canister purge valve only lasted 9 months. My disappointment and surprise is with Walmart. Walmart's site states a limited lifetime warranty and provides a link to Durham the manufacturer's warranty policy. This policy states the warranty shall be handled by point of purchase only, which in this case is Walmart online. Walmart states they will not honor the warranty since I did not purchase an extended warranty but would have provided a refund if it was returned within 90 days. Walmart leads you to believe you have a warranty but essentially you do not. If this is all true why would I purchase through Walmart in the future, at least for a Durham product, if having a warranty would be prudent?
