Disappointing Lasko Tower Fan

Lasko "Ascend" 36" 4-Speed Tower Fan 28 ft/s Airflow, 24dBA Remote Control, Black OST100 is the item purchased for 75 bucks. Difficult to assemble and was not able to get tower to "snap" into the base properly after dozens of tries. If bumped, the tower leans as it doesn't properly fit into the 2-piece base [that do not match up correctly to form a firm/solid circle]. This thing has the worst chemical smell imaginable and stinks up the whole area it is pointed blowing toward. Not just initially, but even after letting it run for a whole week. After 3 weeks the chem smell is slightly less but not completely gone. Purchased this one over other options as it was advertised ("Quite. Operates at a library-quiet 29 dBA, making it suitable for sleeping, studying, or relaxing without disturbance.") Uh, no! Not quiet at all. Noise level not much different than a full sized box fan and it can be heard 2 rooms away. For the price, we expected a much nicer, sturdier and quieter fan. Have not been able to place in the small bedroom it was purchased for because of smell, noise and unsteady leaning. Did not use the remote it came with so no comment on that part. Intend to return it and buy 3 more large box fans for the same price. Nothing like the quality of similar tower fan purchased 10 years ago. Disappointing. Of course, Your Experience may be better!
