If you're in between sizes I recommend sizing down since the waistband only stretches and doesn't have a waist tie. I am usually a 3-4x and I purchased the 4x and they ran pretty big even folding the waistband down once they're very loose. I love the material and feel though so will be repurchasing in a 3x
