It is clear that the twenty contributing designers really enjoyed coming up with ideas for doll quilts -- the book is full of vibrant colors and a feel of child-like wonder! Even if you are new to quilting, there is a basic overview of quilting techniques and explanations of them, to help you learn what you need to get started.
There are so many wonderful ideas in Doll Quilts, like simple geometric pastels, appliqued apples and a hand-stitched Little Red Riding Hood inside of a Dresden Plate pattern. The Dream Doll Quilt has two tiny quilts sewn on top of it that offer the perfect place for a little doll and its pet to sleep for the night. If you like a woodland feel, the Forestopia quilt (made by Quilt Dad, the only male in the bunch!), evokes the feeling of being in a forest, with the animals slightly camouflaged among the graphical nature elements. I loved the Ticker Tape design, with its strips of lovely fabric arranged up and down all over the quilt in a beautiful pattern. Doll Quilts are ideal as a smaller project and will certainly delight a young person in your life when you give them their very own handmade treasure.
