I was not expecting this rug to be as soft as it was, it's like a plush throw blanket. The backing isn't very thick so it isn't the comfiest thing to stand on, but just walking across it is fine. Since it is so soft though, it's a little slippery right out of the packaging, but that's the fibers not the backing. So far the backing has kept the rug in place.
