I'm a lighting designer and focus on low voltage landscape designs and the #1 rule is "Mind the glare!" , but almost every porch or carriage light have bulbs glaring right in your face. When I redid the lighting on my own house, I wanted a fixture that would provide nice light and no glare - these fill the bill and look good doing it. Some extra notes - - These fixtures use an unusual GU24 bulb. The bulbs were included ( I bought 3 of these lights ) and they were maybe the least bad CFL I've used in a nice warm white, but your bulb choices will be limited. - Because of a trim line on my house, I had to mount this in a different position than the factory designed. This was a simple modification, I just drilled 2 more holes 3.5" above the original ones and mounted the light almost flush to the trim line.The entire back is open so you can position the mounting plate anyhwere if your willing to drill two more holes.
