Battery charger not working properly

My husband only us this maybe 5/6 times and when he us it the vehicle wasn't to dead to jump so it work , but now the temp is change the trucks cold mornings need a boost and the battery charger isn't working properly it charges for a fe minutes then turn it self of like it's over heating or loosing power and we having to use jumper cables instead of the new battery charger making it a hassle for the money we spent it should have no issues and we haven't been able to contact anyone about this product !!!!
