- Installation guide: Door needs to be at least 1-inch wider and no shorter than the finished door opening you plan to cover; when mounting your sliding barn door hardware, 6-inch minimum is required between the top of the door and the ceiling. Track must be mounted to studs or header in order to provide sufficient support.
