I was surprised by the texture, it's more like a shower or tub mat. Very smooth and flexible . It does cover all the burners, and is about 1/4 of an inch on all sides from covering the whole glass top. I don't think it's an issue though, it looks real nice. I also appreciate the added bonus, the round silicone hot pot mat.
