Exploding Bulb

Bulb exploded. Took the bulb out to put install. While walking with it (gently, not running or bumping into things) it exploded. Very loud and glass EVERYWHERE. I have an open concept living room, so glass was all over every bit of the house. Only have one picture of what's left of the bulb because I had to vacuumed immediately as I have pets. No clue why or how this happened. Googling only finds articles relating to bulbs exploding while in fixtures and such. Nothing I can find on a bulb exploding randomly. Quite scary actually.
