Best bargain ever at Walmart

Those of you who know Game of Thrones only from the HBO series now have an opportunity to buy a boxed set of the first four books at an unbelievable price. I love the TV series, but the books are the finest fantasy works since Tolkien, and are very much a canon of American imaginative fiction. They are long. Very long. Really, really long. And there are a lot of characters, lots and lots of characters. But the completeness of Martin's world, the variety of his people, the depth of his themes, his broad humanity and firm moral bearings suggest no one quite so much as Tolstoy. All of this wonder is yours for less than a movie and a popcorn. True the print is small, the bindings fragile, and the maps nearly indecipherable but this set will give you more for your money than any other set by a living writer. Winter is coming, but what a wonderful way to spend it!

Well represented for a series in paperback.

I sent for these to read while the series (Game of Thrones) is on hiatus and filming in Iceland and New Zealand and wherever else they film. I am hooked on this series and almost everyone that I know that watches it, is hooked too. These books should keep me happy until the next season returns.

Takes your breath away

I have been an avid reader all of my life. There are very few books or series that I can say take my breath away. Rather, this set of books, not only took my breath away, it changed my life. It has become a common bond my husband and I share. We watch the HBO series together. I have to be careful not to spoil the upcoming season 2 for him. Although, I have finished the set of book, I am in the process of reading the fifth book, Dance of Dragons. We plan to purchase the blueray set for season 1. I have a GOT calendar. I believe I am a fan. I will most likely purchase a calendar for my husband. Once, I finish, book five, I plan to re-read the set.
