THIS IS THE GRATE THAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR TEN YEARS. EVERY YEAR IHAD TO BUY A GRATE BECAUSE THE OTHER ONES WOULD MELT AND BEND. BUT NOW I HAVE FOUND THIS ONE THAT I KNOW WILL LAST LONGER AND WOULD RECOMMEND TO A FRIEND. I WISH THAT THE STORE WOULD STOCK THEM SO I NOT HAVE TO WAIT A WEEK TO DELIVER BUT OVER ALL I AM SATISFIED WIT THIS GRATE

Nice and Thick

Our old grate only had the two feet remaining, all metal inbetween was gone so I really liked the thickness of this grate. My fireplace is 24" wide and so I went with the 18" grate. Didn't make much sense to me why the 24" grate was less than the 18"? My husband doesn't seem to like the space inbetween side walls but I do (I like making the fire extra big and I like how you can set a log on each side of the grate). I'm pretty sure you're suppose to get a grate that is 6" smaller on the width and 3" smaller in the front compared to your fireplace measurements. I also like how the front comes up more than the back to prevent rolling.

Pleasantly surprised on this one...

For example... If this picture is showing when this note posts, this grate had four legs. I would have been happy with that. However, the one I received actually had six legs. That's important, because previous grates keep collapsing in the center because of the heat. Not only is this constructed from heavy gauge iron, the one I received had the two additional supports. I was surprised at how quickly it arrived too. I got a note saying I would receive it on a Friday, but it came a day earlier than that. This made in America product was delivered in a well made box, so it didn't suffer any road damage. I had no complaints. For me, that's pretty good. ...smile...
