It's 8 inches long, rated to support 50lbs and is designed to hang plants, hanging baskets, etc. I like the white coating; it would be nice used in a kitchen or laundry room. The package states it can be used outdoors in covered setting. I guess it might rust if used to hang a bird feeder or planter in an unprotected area. I am using it to hang a plant in a bathroom. It looks very nice, clean, and modern. The length is perfect. The plant hangs low enough to be easily watered but is high enough to be out of the way. I love it!
