The Air Vent Wind Turbine comes with a 12 inch opening and 95 sqquare inches of NFA. It is Miami-Dade approved. A non-electric alternative to ventilation, these vents use the natural force of wind and air pressure to spin and vent out stale attic air. They do it with a series of specially shaped vanes that catch the wind and provide rotary motion. This pulls hot, humid air from the attic. Turbine vents provide a low-cost ventilation alternative in areas where wind speeds of at least 5 mph are typical.
A guideline to keep in mind with the Air Vent Air Hawk is that homes require 1 square foot of net free area (the total unobstructed area through which air can enter or exhaust a non-powered vent) for every 150 square feet of attic floor space. If balanced between intake and exhaust vents, the requirement is 1 square foot of net free area for every 300 square feet of attic floor space.
