2023-(W) American Silver Eagle MS-70 PCGS
The first Silver Eagle design, introduced in 1986, was not the first time it was used in circulation. Weinman's Walking Liberty artwork was developed during a period of time in which American coinage charm was poor. The new design was a rapid success with the ordinary individual as a reminder of American philosophies and patriotism. The American Eagle coin's obverse artwork is Adolph A. Weinman's full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, surrounded in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended out and branches of laurel and oak in her left.
In 2021, a new reverse design was revealed - leading to attention to the series due to it being the very first redesign in history. U.S. Mint AIP Designer Emily Damstra developed the new design for the 35th anniversary year, which was then sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso. The new Silver Eagle design depicts a single eagle coming in for a landing, carrying an oak branch as if to add it to a nest. The design is featured on the 2023 Silver Eagles as well to add to the popular American Eagle legacy.
