Frederic Blasco is a Frenchman living in New york. Much of the album Film was written in Richmond, VA and New York. Recording was done in Richmond at Urban Geek Studio by Michael Hearst (One Ring Zero). The band included Johnny Hott (Cracker, Sparklehorse) on drums, Pippin Barnett (Curlew, Fred Frith) on drums, Scott Fitzsimmons (Sparklehorse) on upright bass, Paul Watson (Sparklehorse, FSK) on guitar, charango and cornet and Frederic Blasco on vocals, guitar, toy piano, piano, Chord organ and 6-string banjo. Blasco later performed the songs in New York with a band including Sam Fogarino from Interpol. This album was first released in 2000 in the U.S. and 2001 in France. It never got proper distribution in America, but the response by audience at shows and the few media that reviewed it was very good. In France, Film was considered to be one of the best albums of it's year.
