Speaker platform has a 19" wide x 13" deep recessed area to hold papers in place and a pencil groove for writing utensils. With lectern/media stand, tabletop lectern creates a 45" high mobile lectern with storage. When used alone, it is a mobile media stand for TV/VCR or projector. 3/4" furniture-grade wood has a stain-resistant and scratch-resistant laminate finish. Lectern contains a high percentage of recycled material.

not worth it
I bought this top to go on the base that is also available. I have purchased a lot of knocked down furniture in my day - This top is just "okay" - not worth the money - I value it at about a third of the price. Had to return one due to damages and missing parts - 2nd one was better, however there was a small nick under the top (it wouldn't show). The base was badly damaged - the 2nd base was badly damaged - Gave up and returned the whole set. Got full refund but it was a lot of hassle repacking 4 items.
