I bought this for my 2 youngest grandchildren,ages 1 1/2, and 3. The pieces are very lightweight and easy for them to carry/move around,yet sturdy enough for rough and tumble play. They both absolutely love it! They can sit together on the sofa,or split it into 2 seperate "chairs". Their 8 year old brother showed them how to use the pieces to build all sorts of things,encouraging imagination. I'm considering buying another set for the 8 year old!
