Century Concept CC1220 General Macarthurs Triumphant Return Photo Frame

As part of his Pacific Campaign in the depths of WWII, General Douglas MacArthur was stationed with his family in the Manila Bay of the Philippines. Following the dramatic bombings at Pearl Harbor, Japanese forces gradually gained control of the territories surrounding Allied troops at the island of Corregidor. When President Eisenhower firmly ordered MacArthur to leave his men and flee to safety in Australia, the General resisted until he was forced to obey the command on March 11th 1942.

This beautiful black-and-white print captures the moment on October 20th 1944 as MacArthur wades back onto the beaches of the Philippines to fulfill his vow and free the terrority from Japanese occupation nearly two and a half years later. The image is matted with a genuine WWII era M1 Garand bullet framed in wood and encased with glass.
