I use this jerky gun to make both meat sticks and fruit jerky, and it works great. It’s very easy to use and clean—basically like a giant caulking gun. It comes with a plunger for stuffing meat sticks, along with multiple tips, including one for making flat fruit leather-style jerky. For fruit jerky, I recommend following recipes that cook the fruit down into a jam-like consistency before dehydrating. Adding fruit pectin—or even something simple like apple—helps the texture turn out really well. Overall, the gun performs perfectly and is a great value for the money. One important tip: when making meat sticks or jerky, don’t use meat straight out of the refrigerator. If it’s too cold, it’s much harder to squeeze and can really strain your wrist. Letting it warm up a bit on the countertop makes a huge difference—it becomes much easier to work with.
