Funny and totally British

I admit it, I bought this because of Benedict Cumberbatch. He was such a fresh faced young hottie then...lol. I can see the future Sherlock and Khan in him during certain scenes as Rory. I wonder why there isn't a season two on dvd?

Excellent series once it got started

I have been a huge Hugh Laurie fan for years, having first seen him on PBS years ago in Jeeves and Wooster, later catching up with A Bit of Fry and Laurie, and absorbing every episode of House. I learned of Fortysomething only recently. After watching the first episode, my thought was `Well, Hugh is good, but the first episode didn't grab me that much.` But I'm glad I continued with the set. The final five shows range from very good to excellent. The brief scene with Stephen Fry is an instant classic, and the rest of the very talented cast really inhabit their diverse characters quickly. I'm guessing the first episode was largely exposition to set up the multi-dimensional story lines and characters. The show turned out to be rich with many pleasures, and for an American its a relief to see a sit-com actually written for adults. I'm very pleased I bought the collection, and I know I'll enjoy repeated viewings.
