The New South Wales Machine is a quintet hailing from sunny Bethlehem, Pennsylvania: Sasank Ancha on guitars, Michael Corsa on bass, Justin Solonynka on piano, Dan Somavilla on woodwinds and turntables, and Chris Stuart on drums. The NSWM flavor is one of powerful funked-up jazz with a dab of world music and a pinch of hip-hop. During their six years together, the members of The New South Wales Machine recorded two major CDs, 'The Modus Operandi' and 'FIRED!,' as well as this retrospective album, 'Jamming at the Portal.' John Terlesky of the Morning Call wrote that the NSWM featured 'diverse stylistic chops - jazz, jam-band rock, reggae, bossa nova, sometimes employed within the confines of a single song.' 'Jamming at the Portal' is a collection of the band's best work, interspersed with several previously unreleased live tracks from their shows at the famous Godfrey Daniels coffeehouse.
