Very Fun FPS

Black Ops I got this game at about 12:15am release day, and I could not stop playing till work the next day. I told myself I wouldn't do this, but that obviously didn't happen. ***Cons*** 1 Major problem with multiplayer is the server lag, but that will be fixed in no time. Even with this issue I couldn't stop playing multiplayer. Uses Steam in tandem with the game to host multiplayer games. The game multiplayer option is not very intuitive for new users to say the least even more so in Zombie mode. I am not a fan boy of Steam, it sometimes crashes my computer, and causes odd latency problems, but I deal with it to play good games like Black Ops. To play a multiplayer zombie game you have to start the single player version of the game. I could not play with my friends using steam like other steam games. I had to use the friends list in single player version of black ops. Then invite my friends, and start a game. Then the friends had to user the friends list in the single player (not steam), select the game invite tab, and then join my game. Not easy, but worth it after we figured it out. ***Pros*** Dedicated servers plus official game servers Zombie mode is not DLC it's in the game at release. I tested out the Zombie survival mode. Played that with 3 of my friends for several hours and I was addicted. I will enjoy many hours of Zombie Mode in the near future. I played this while multiplayer was lagging out. Single player was beautiful and interesting, but I did not waste a lot of time playing single player my reason for getting Black Ops was for the multiplayer. Game never crashed on me, release games often are not the most stable. This game was not the case for PC at least, very stable for 7 hours of play. Still had server lag though Multiplayer was awesome minus the lag and this is a partial review of what is in multiplayer, and by no means complete. New maps all with the same old game play types, but lots of new game types that will keep me interested for a long time to come. They made some perk changes that I feel helped to balance the multiplayer. They added the flack-jacket to reduce explosive damage which helps with tubers and frag crazy people. Nice balance addition imho. Bling is changed to warlord, and no under barrel attachments are allowed which helps to again balance the weapon load out (they added a flamethrower as an under barrel attachment @@ awesome). They added contracts which give you goals during multiplayer for extra cash, and exp. Contracts can be picked to go with your play style. They have time limits for completion giving you nice side challenges while you play. You buy the perks, modifications, load outs, and kill streaks once you unlock the level requirement. They added lots of new weapons that you should all look forward to unlocking and using. The customization of multiplayer is amazing. You can finally make your guy truly yours from the look, to weapon load out. You can write fraises on your weapons, add slash marks for kills if you like. Make custom icons for you character, customer tags, custom weapon sites etc, etc, etc, I can't say enough about the customization it is almost limitless. I can't confirm this, but the game map cycling appeared to change based on the # of players currently playing. When we had 9 on 9 it appeared to play larger maps, and when it was 2 on 3 it transitioned nicely every time to smaller quick maps. Overall the game met my expectations, and I figured there would be server lag @ release which I am sure EA will work hard to remedy right away. Highly recommend the multiplayer aspect and the zombie mode, and I don't know enough about the single player to recommend it, but overall an amazing FPS with lots of new changes.

My wife work for Walmart and brought this game for me. I love it, but at first had trouble with lag and more, but they got that fixed. And my AMD X2 5400 runs it fine. GREAT GAME

Husband Thrilled

This game was at the top of my husbands gift list this year and he was THRILLED to see it under the tree. I'm not a gamer, but he loves the game and the fact that he could get a PC version since he doesn't have any of the other gaming devices.
