I found this book astonishingly raw. I have lived in Texas for the 50 yrs and while I heard the results of these cases, I was never aware off the behind the scenes things that went on. The US justice system needs a good overhaul in general.

Fix the criminal justice system!

Hundreds are wrongly convicted thru a set of convoluted circumstances. These are a handful of cases, presented in a clear, concise way that only Grisham and McCloskey can do. Hard reading, these stories are difficult to comprehend. The way we lock people up is hard to comprehend but unjustly? These are your family and you can't do anything about it. The death penalty carries the inherent risk of executing an innocent person. Since 1973, at least 200 people who had been wrongly convicted and sentenced to death in the U.S. have been exonerated. The jury is still out on how many have been wrongly executed. We can do better, as this book attests to.
