Patty Lou is a little girl who loves to play baseball. She struggles hitting a baseball with a bat. The neighborhood children tease her and never let her play baseball with the other children. Patty Lou meets a fictional friend named Mr. Plank, who comes to life after her tears drop onto a lumpy piece of wood. Mr. Plank is an outcast and is a lumpy piece of wood that was not used in constructing Patty Lou's house. Together, they help each other overcome their problems.
