If you have a SLR or DSLR camera and other maker/mount lenses, the Fotodiox Mount Adapters allow you to use your lenses on the film/digital camera body. Sharing lenses has some distinct advantages. This Fotodiox lens mount adapter is made with high standard precision. It's all metal design and polished surface is designed to guarantee smooth mounting and long lasting experiences. This adapter allows all Contarex Mount Lenses to fit on all Leica M mount camera bodies. Due to the rangefinder being uncoupled, focusing live-view enabled cameras is easy and accurate; focusing on older RF cameras is done by estimating the distance only.

The Leica M 6-bit lens coding system works together with firmware in the newer camera bodies (starting with M8) to correct for various lenses. The lens coding is called '6-bit coding' because six fields in the bayonet ring are marked in black or white to represent a number from 1 to 64 in binary code. The information on the lens is used to help the camera to optimize image quality and this information is also written into the EXIF image file.

Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm, auto-focusing, or any other functions will not operate correctly while using this adapter. In this case stop-down mode will need to be used when metering since the lens does not have the ability to have its aperture controlled by the camera body. You can shoot with manual mode or aperture priority mode. Infinity focusing is guaranteed.
