I, a mom, ordered this book for guidance about raising our 10 yr old son with ADHD, highly sensitive, emotional, impulsive, intelligent, energetic...and also the companion workbook to go with it. My son read the workbook and didn't like it the first day, but then read more and it was helpful to him. I haven't finished this book yet, but I applied some of the ideas in the workbook and it's helped change my attitude towards my son. I was to the point of starting meds and even considered sending him to boarding school. But that's not the answer. This book is so helpful. It changed my heart and my prayers and my son is becoming more appreciative, loving, kind and apologetic towards me when it used to be a constant fight. We enjoy each other's company and he enjoys the extra activities and energy releasers he gets to do. It's benefitted us tremendously. We have 3 sons, and only 1 with ADHD, but each are unique and the concepts in this book are beneficial for raising strong boys of any personality type. My husband (who's name is on this review) might benefit from reading it too. But as a woman raised without a dad, I could relate to the anger, sadness, feelings of abandonment and rage that are listed in this book and my son often feels that way when his dad travels for work. David Thomas helps you work through your own issues while parenting your own son. If you're struggling to raise strong boys to be men who are there for their family, I highly recommend you read this book!
