Unclear instructions and no batteries

Not sure what happened their instructions regarding tv selection for ? His tv wouldn't work for me at his nursing home press and hold set for a bit, Burton started heating up quickly and too hot to make it to the end. Brought it home my husband put batteries back in as far as I know he now has remote in spite of immobility but it easier for caregivers. You could buy only one which was great I hope. Not real durable but ya get what ya pay for. Satisfied I hope we'll see when I go back to see him. Fingers crossed. Thanks
