Its a 10 year, not 12 year warranty

I've owned my in-ground pool for many years, and I prefer to use solid covers, such as this one -- the "LifeSmart 18 x 36 In Ground 12 Year" . I used the Site-to-Store shipping option. I was surprised this product appears to be thinner than my existing 5 year old cover. I've had this new one installed for approx 1 week, and it does what it needs to do, thus far. We've had some windy days, with no effect on the cover. No rain, yet. I recommend this for the following reasons: (a) I believe, most of these covers are manufactured by 1, 2 or 3 firms. Covers are probably all similar - hence a commodity to you and I, like gasoline and milk. (b) site to store = "free shipping" (c) good price for mid-level warranty (10-12 year warranty). Any of you interested in the warranty ? Read on. Walmart product description lists this as a 12 year warranty. However, inside the box is paperwork detailing the warranty. The paperwork clearly, and repeatedly states this product is covered by a 10 year warranty. The paperwork shows : (1) the pro-rata replacement over the 10 years. Funny thing is the paperwork states "Each season to end on April 31" (Note, there is no April 31 in our calendar !! ) (2) Returns must be authorized, in advance and returned freight pre-paid. (3) Paper work shows no address, phone # , etc. except to say "return to dealer". I guess Walmart is the dealer? (4) Replacement Pro-rata schedule is 1st Season No Charge, 2cd Season 40%, 3rd Season 75%. 4th Season 80%, 5th 85%, 6th 90%, 7-10th 95%. (5) Warranty excludes coverage for grommets, abrasion. Included in the paperwork is a separate page detailing how to install the cover.

not much there

this is actually a round tarp. I have not had it long enough to know if it will really last what it is supposed to, but I am doubtful. The tiedown (which is a cable so, very strong) is hard to tighten well enough to stay on in wind. I recommend either running the cable in and out of the bars of the pool or buying bungee cords to tie it down, otherwise you will find it floating in your pool at the first sign of wind.
