This is one of the better purchases I have made. This lopper did not want to let both handles extend. Some persuasion with a board and a hammer made the handle work like it should. The plastic inserts showing the direction to turn the handles to extend came loose. I used some silicone cement to cure that. My first day cutting a hundred honeysuckle bushes was it's first day on the job. The extendable handles were very handy and made cutting the thicker branches of 1 to almost 2 inches very easy. To my surprise I actually needed to sharpen the cutting blade after the first day. However looking at the brush laying on the ground made one sharpening absolutely worth it. It has also cut dead and dry black locust with ease, made black cherry fall with ease, and willow, sumac, and box alder drop into the brush piles. The extendability of the handles allowed higher branches to be cut from the ground. The tougher branches took one to three cuts to get through. I found cutting partially through each time, like chewing, made short work of those branches and saplings. I found the handles would come loose as I twisted and turned the cutter. A simple twist of the wrist locked them back into place. Using this tool takes some getting used to but it is doable. I have seen the handles flex as I cut an especially tough branch. This tells me I may be using too much force, but so far the handles remain intact. In my opinion this is a good tool and I hope I get to use this for years on my 13 acre property. I recommend this tool to any homeowner with a woodlot or a wooded yard or field to care for.
