The Sole of the Matter Counts

terrible sole material for an otherwise good shoe

The material used to cover the sole is poor. The outer rear soles will show significant wear within 50 miles, so one ends up running on the foam, not the outer protective covering. Pricing at $240 a pair adds salt to the wound. i found the company's customer service difficult, they should have been apologetic for a deign flaw and properly addressed the complaint...but decided felt it was best to be reactionary, causing me to submit this review. Other comments on the same complaint serves to confirm this design problem. Parent VF Corp needs to take a look under the hood. this does little to engender customer loyalty in a competitive business.

I really wanted to love this shoe

Been an Altra fan for many years, and I was so excited about this carbon shoe. The fit was great and super light. However, it doesn't hold up. I broke in the shoe with a few long runs and save these for races. Maybe 80-90 miles, and they are done. The bottom has worn way down, and it doesn't have the same spring that it originally did. The cost isn't worth it. I run daily with my other Altras, and they will last a lot longer.

Terrible design of tongue position

I have been running in Altra's for over 2 years now, the Torin, the Escalante, and the Paradigm. Was super excited when the Carbon came out. What a disappointment! The shoe tongue doesn't stay in place. As a triathlete, using this shoe in transition isn't recommended. Takes a good minute to make sure the tongue isn't misaligned and folded over. Very uncomfortable.
