It is more breathable than most.

It lost it's shape and the boning (ribs) are coming out, but it made my dog more comfortable during the heat of summer. They are a chewer, though most of the damages were due to him rubbing on items. He is pretty persistent, so it's amazing it lasted this long. I considered it worth the price I payed. It is not as long as other medical collars of this type, so consider that when buying it.

Well, the recommendation is between a yes %26 no, I have one dog who chewed right through the mesh within 4 days. I had bought 3 one for each dog, but one was too small for that dog, so I kept her in the plastic cone. She has already chewed this one as well. They got poison ivy, that's why all 3 have cones. Now the other dog hasn't chewed his, I think he's having more trouble walking, a small might be a little much. I hope this helps
