I looked for ages elsewhere for a new bin with no joy, lids never seem to line up properly with the bottoms, and they have no style. I may have paid a premium price for Brabantia but it is a beauty! NOT silent!

Brabantia's design engineers have come up with a bin whose lid makes a loud ping as it hits the wall every time you open it. So the "silent closing" feature is useful once all the house guests have been woken up by the ping.
