I ordered this 36" white bar because the shorter one at this store was a clear bar. I only needed a 19" white bar, so it was a simple task of cutting the plastic bar with a hack saw. At 19", the bar is very sturdy, you don't need any metal bar within the bar to make it stronger. My towel bar ends are the tile bar holders in the wall that I could not remove. So I was very careful to cut this to the right length because once you cut it too short, you'll have to get another. I cut it to about 20" and then to about 19.5" and then finally down to the exact length where it had to be squeezed into the holders. The end springs hold it nice and tight. Good product, just be patient when cutting to the right length.
