SUBJECT: 2005 - 2006 700 and 900 IQ Accessory Starter Motor Fastener Update
PURPOSE:
Polaris has determined that a dealer or customer who installed an accessory electric start kit may have not properly
torqued the starter motor fasteners. An improperly torqued starter motor fastener bolt may loosen and fall out. If the
fastener(s) back out, there is a possibility that the bolt(s) could interfere with the lower steering drag link. If the steering
mechanism is restricted from moving in its designed manner, the operator could experience a loss of steering control,
which may cause an accident.
Polaris has developed a repair kit, PN 2203296. The repair kit contains three new fasteners, new panduit straps, new wire
routing decal, Loctite 262, and repair instructions. The repair instructions outline revised fastener torque specifications.
NOTE: This Service Bulletin only affects snowmobiles equipped with accessory electric start kits. Please
reference Service Bulletin S-06-03 if the snowmobile was equipped with electric start from the factory.
Snowmobiles with factory-installed electric start will have a (2) as the 3rd S-number digit.
