Notice in the shied are stars, these were never authorized and only a few ever existed, made by jewelers after the pilots ordered them, sort of a copy of the Army Air Service wings. The Navy always had lines in the shield. This is a hat size wing for the overseas cap or to give to a sweetheart. They are 1 1/8 inches long. Made out of sterling silver with a 24k gold plate.
